News On The March!

We can count on plenty of headlines from the Dubya Residency.

Everyone knew in the summer of 2000 that if Dubya assumed the Oval Office, there would be a never-ending stream of gibberish (commonly referred to as "Bushisms") emanating from his pie-hole. These are funny and somewhat newsworthy, but we got more than we bargained for.  Dubya, although he ran as a moderate, makes Ronnie Reagan look like George McGovern.

Watch out, here comes another bombshell!

Dubya's style in the first few weeks of his Residency has been to govern by Executive Order and railroading tactics.  He seemed to have gained the upper hand using this approach in the early days; it took a while for the Democrats and the press to regroup and figure out what this guy was up to.  His tax cut proposal slipped through the House on a nearly party line vote with almost NO debate.  His executive orders to undo Clinton's executive orders were a slap in the face with a wet carp.  He went on to try to limit labor unions from political participation, end the NW Airilines strike and pledge to limit any further strike, rescind ergonomic workplace rules, boost non-union workers on Federal jobs, renege on his pledge to limit CO2, and promise to sign the new bankruptcy bill that is a billion-dollar boost to credit  card companies.

This doesn't even get to his "Faith-based Initiative" executive order that has opponents across the full spectrum of politics including the Religious Right.  Nor does it mention Dubya's calloused "tough luck" approach to the impending energy crisis as he tries to leverage drilling for his Big Oil buddies.

So, enjoy the headlines and commentary.
